How to Adjust Screen Brightness 🔆
If your screen is too dim to read or too bright at night, here's how to fix it.
Why Adjust Brightness?
- ☀️ Outside in sunlight - Turn it UP to see better
- 🌙 At night in bed - Turn it DOWN to protect your eyes
- 🔋 Saving battery - Lower brightness uses less power
On iPhone
Quick Way (Control Center):
- Swipe down from the top-right corner
- Find the brightness slider (sun icon)
- Drag UP to make it brighter
- Drag DOWN to make it dimmer
From Settings:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display & Brightness
- Drag the Brightness slider
On Android
Quick Way:
- Swipe down from the top of screen
- Find the brightness slider (usually has a sun icon)
- Drag left or right
From Settings:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display
- Tap Brightness and adjust the slider
Auto-Brightness (Recommended)
Let your phone adjust automatically based on your surroundings:

- Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size
- Scroll down and turn ON Auto-Brightness

- Settings → Display
- Turn ON Adaptive Brightness
💡 Other Helpful Display Settings
While you're there, also try:
- Bold Text - Makes words easier to read
- Text Size - Make letters bigger
- Night Shift/Night Mode - Warmer colors at night
⚠️ If You Can't See Your Screen
If your screen suddenly seems too dark:
- Try the physical volume buttons - sometimes they're near brightness controls
- Move to a darker room to see the screen
- Ask someone to help you find the brightness setting
