How to Share a Photo with Family 📸

Sharing photos from your phone is one of the best parts of having one. Here is how to send a photo to your family in a few taps.

The Easiest Way: Text Message

📱

On iPhone:

  1. Open the Photos app
  2. Find the photo you want to share
  3. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up)
  4. Tap Messages
  5. Type the person's name or phone number
  6. Tap the Send button (blue arrow)
🤖

On Android:

  1. Open the Photos or Gallery app
  2. Find the photo you want to share
  3. Tap the Share button (three dots connected by lines, or the word "Share")
  4. Tap Messages or the name of your texting app
  5. Type the person's name or phone number
  6. Tap Send

Share by Email

This works great for sending photos to someone who does not text:

  1. Open the Photos app
  2. Find the photo and tap Share
  3. Tap Mail or Gmail
  4. Type the person's email address
  5. Add a subject line if you want (like "Photo from the garden!")
  6. Tap Send

Share Multiple Photos at Once

  1. In the Photos app, tap Select (top right)
  2. Tap each photo you want to share — a checkmark appears on each one
  3. Tap the Share button
  4. Choose Messages, Email, or any app
  5. Send them all at once

💡 Tips

  • Text messages are best for one or two photos. If you send too many at once, they can take a long time to deliver.
  • Email is better for sending a bunch of photos or sending to someone far away.
  • If someone asks you to share a photo to a group chat, the process is the same — you just pick the group conversation instead of one person.
  • Photos sent by text may lose some quality. If you want the full quality (for printing, for example), email is better.

⚠️ Good to Know

  • Sending photos by text uses your regular texting plan. On WiFi with iMessage (iPhone to iPhone) or most Android messaging apps, it is free.
  • Be careful sharing photos that show personal information like your address, ID cards, or mail. Crop those out before sending.
