How to Lock Your Phone with Fingerprint or Face 👆

Unlock your phone just by looking at it or touching it - no password needed!


What's Available?

Setting Up Face ID (iPhone)

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Face ID & Passcode
  3. Enter your passcode
  4. Tap Set Up Face ID
  5. Position your face in the frame
  6. Move your head in a circle (follow the instructions)
  7. Do it twice when prompted
  8. Done!

To Unlock:

Just look at your phone - it unlocks automatically!


Setting Up Touch ID (iPhone with Home Button)

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Touch ID & Passcode
  3. Enter your passcode
  4. Tap Add a Fingerprint
  5. Place your finger on the Home button
  6. Lift and place repeatedly until complete
  7. Done!

To Unlock:

Rest your finger on the Home button.


Setting Up Fingerprint (Android)

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Search for "Fingerprint" or find it under Security
  3. Tap Fingerprint or Biometrics
  4. Enter your PIN or password
  5. Follow the instructions to scan your finger
  6. Done!

Setting Up Face Unlock (Android)

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Search for "Face" or find it under Security
  3. Tap Face Recognition or Face Unlock
  4. Enter your PIN
  5. Position your face and follow instructions
  6. Done!

💡 Tips

  • Add multiple fingers - In case one is wet or injured
  • Your passcode still works - Use it as backup
  • Works for apps too - Banking apps, password managers, etc.

⚠️ Good to Know

  • Face ID doesn't work with sunglasses on
  • Wet fingers might not scan well
  • These features are very secure - don't worry about someone else getting in

If It's Not Working

  1. Clean the sensor/camera
  2. Make sure your face/finger is positioned correctly
  3. Try removing and re-adding your fingerprint/face
  4. Your passcode always works as backup
