How to Set Up Emergency Contacts 🚨

Setting up emergency contacts means help can reach your loved ones even if your phone is locked.


Why This Matters

On iPhone

Step 1: Open the Health App

  1. Find the Health app (white icon with red heart)
  2. Tap your profile picture (top right)
  3. Tap Medical ID

Step 2: Add Emergency Contacts

  1. Tap Edit
  2. Scroll to Emergency Contacts
  3. Tap + Add Emergency Contact
  4. Choose someone from your contacts
  5. Select their relationship (spouse, child, etc.)
  6. Tap Done

Step 3: Make It Accessible

Make sure "Show When Locked" is turned ON so it works even when your phone is locked.


On Android

Using Google Contacts:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Safety & Emergency (or search for it)
  3. Tap Emergency Contacts
  4. Tap Add Contact
  5. Choose from your contacts

On Samsung:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap Safety and Emergency
  3. Tap Emergency Contacts
  4. Add your contacts

Consider adding:

  • ✅ Adult child
  • ✅ Close friend nearby
  • ✅ Neighbor with a key

On your Medical ID (iPhone) or Emergency Info (Android), you can add:

  • 💊 Medications you take
  • 🩸 Blood type
  • ⚠️ Allergies
  • 🏥 Doctor's name
