How to Send a Video Message 🎬

A video message is a short video you record and send to someone — like a text message but with your face and voice. It is a wonderful way to stay in touch with family, especially if they live far away.

How It Is Different from a Video Call

  • Video call = Live conversation, like a phone call with video. Both people need to be available at the same time.
  • Video message = A recording you send. The other person watches it whenever they want and can replay it.

💡 Tips

  • Keep it short and sweet. 15 to 30 seconds is perfect. A quick "Hi, thinking of you!" means more than you might realize.
  • Hold your phone horizontally (sideways) if you want the video to fill more of the screen when they watch it. But vertical is fine too.
  • Make sure you are in a well-lit spot so they can see your face clearly.
  • You can watch your own video before sending it. If you do not like it, delete it and record another one.

If the Video Will Not Send

  • File too large — Videos longer than a minute or two can be very large. Try recording a shorter one.
  • Weak connection — Make sure you are on WiFi or have a good cell signal. Videos need more bandwidth than regular texts.
  • Try WhatsApp — WhatsApp compresses videos automatically so they send faster and easier than regular text messages.

⚠️ Good to Know

  • Video messages use more storage space than photos. If your phone is getting full, old video messages in your text conversations can be deleted to free up room.
  • Only send video messages to people you know and trust, just like you would with any other personal message.
