How to Mute and Unmute Yourself 🔇
Muting turns off your microphone so others can't hear you. It's polite to mute when you're not talking!
Why Mute?
- 🐕 Your dog is barking
- 🍽️ Family is making noise nearby
- 🚗 You're in a loud place
- 🤧 You need to cough or sneeze
- 🗣️ Multiple people in a meeting - less echo
On Zoom
🖥️
Computer:
- Mute: Click the microphone icon at the bottom-left
- Unmute: Click it again
- Quick unmute: Hold the spacebar to talk, release to re-mute
Phone/Tablet:
- Tap the microphone icon at the bottom
- Red line through it = you're muted
- Tap again to unmute
On FaceTime
- During the call, tap the screen to show controls
- Tap the microphone icon
- Tap again to unmute
On Google Meet
- Click/tap the microphone icon at the bottom
- Red = muted
- White = unmuted
On WhatsApp Video Call
- Tap the screen to show controls
- Tap the microphone icon
- Tap again to unmute

Look for these signs:
