How to Delete Emails 🗑️
Clean up your inbox by deleting unwanted emails!
On iPhone (Mail App) 📱
Delete One Email:
- Open Mail app
- Find the email you want to delete
- Swipe left on the email
- Tap the Trash icon (🗑️)
Or:
- Open the email
- Tap the Trash icon at the bottom
Delete Multiple Emails:
- Open Mail app
- Tap Edit (top-right)
- Tap the circle next to each email you want to delete
- Tap Trash or Delete at the bottom
- Confirm if asked
On Android (Gmail App) 📱
Delete One Email:
- Open Gmail app
- Find the email
- Tap the email to open it
- Tap the Delete icon (🗑️) at the top
Or:
- Press and hold the email in the list
- Tap the Delete icon
Delete Multiple Emails:
- Open Gmail
- Touch and hold one email
- Tap other emails to select them
- Tap Delete icon (🗑️) at the top
Where Do Deleted Emails Go? 🤔
They go to the Trash folder:
- They stay there for 30 days
- After 30 days, they're deleted forever
- You can recover them before then!
Recovering Deleted Emails 🔄
iPhone:
- Open Mail app
- Tap Mailboxes (top-left)
- Scroll down to Trash
- Find the email
- Open it and tap the folder icon
- Choose Inbox to move it back
Android:
- Open Gmail
- Tap menu (three lines)
- Tap Trash
- Find the email
- Tap to open it
- Tap the three dots (top-right)
- Tap Move to Inbox
Empty Trash Completely 🗑️
To permanently delete everything:
iPhone:
- Go to Trash folder
- Tap Edit
- Tap Delete All
Android:
- Open Trash folder
- Tap Empty Trash now
Be Careful! ⚠️
- Once trash is emptied, emails are gone forever
- Make sure you don't need them before emptying trash
