How to Send an Email with Attachment 📎
Learn to attach photos, documents, and files to emails!
On iPhone 📱
Method 1: From Mail App
- Open Mail app
- Tap the compose button (pencil icon)
- Type recipient's email
- Type your subject
- Write your message
- Tap once in the message area
- Tap and hold until menu appears
- Tap Insert Photo or Video (or Add Attachment)
- Choose your file:
- Photos for pictures
- Browse for documents
- Tap Send (paper airplane)
Method 2: From Photos App
To send a photo:
- Open Photos app
- Select photo(s)
- Tap Share button (box with arrow)
- Tap Mail
- Fill in recipient and message
- Tap Send
On Android 📱
Gmail App:
- Open Gmail
- Tap Compose (plus sign or pencil)
- Type recipient
- Type subject
- Write message
- Tap paperclip icon (📎)
- Choose:
- Attach file (for documents)
- Insert from Drive
- Or choose photo directly
- Select your file
- Tap Send (paper airplane)
From Photos:
- Open Photos or Gallery
- Select photo(s)
- Tap Share
- Choose Gmail or Email
- Fill in details
- Tap Send
File Types You Can Send 📄
Common attachments:
- Photos (.jpg, .png)
- Documents (.pdf, .doc)
- Spreadsheets (.xls)
- Videos (may be too large!)
Size Limits ⚠️

Important:
- Most emails limit to 25MB
- Large videos won't send
- Try compressing or using Google Drive/Dropbox for big files
Troubleshooting 🔧
File won't attach?
- It might be too large
- Try a smaller file
- Use cloud storage link instead
Can't find paperclip icon?
- Make sure you're composing a new email
- Look carefully - it's usually near the Send button
